A multidisciplinary student-led project based at Cardiff University, Assuming Gender provides a space for reflecting upon and discussing issues broadly related to gender and its place in culture and society.

Founded in 2008 at a postgraduate conference, it has evolved to include an electronic journal (you can find all of our issues here), an annual Christmas lecture and a yearly conference.

Generously funded by Cardiff University’s School of English, Communication and Philosophy, Assuming Gender showcases the work of scholars working in such disciplines as cultural and critical theory, literature, and philosophy.
